Lead Program |
Lead continues to be a risk to all children and families. If a family
lives within a High Risk Zip Code area (45212), “ All children must
have a documented test twice between 9 and 36 months, with 12 months
between tests unless clinically indicated sooner; and at least once if
age 3-6 years but without a previous documented test………………….It’s Ohio
Law”. (OCLPPP 3/2004)
The NCHD has information available to the public that include but are
not limited to the following:
Effects of Lead on children
Lead and Pregnancy
Nutrition
Household exposures
Household maintenance
List of Licensed Lead Abatement Contractors.
Also available at the NCHD is the Hepa-Vac loaner program. The vacuum
is used to help reduce the chances of lead dust being released into
the air during vacuuming of flooring or furniture in the home. The
loaner program is free to the public. You must complete an
application and supply a copy of your current driver’s license or
State ID. All of the supplies are included. Vacuum must be returned
clean and in the condition in which it left the NCHD.
If a child has a blood test result that is ≥ 15µg/dL, a referral is
sent by the laboratory/physician to the ODH and the NCHD for an
assessment of the home/environment to check for possible lead exposure
risks. Further educational materials will also be made available to
the families during this visit.
If you would like more information about Lead, please contact the NCHD
at 513-458-4600.
