Immunizations play an important role in the health of children and
adults. The NCHD will provide childhood vaccines to any children who
reside in the state of Ohio. A federal program, Vaccines for
Children, allows us to provide immunizations for children from birth
through 19 years at the NCHD including:
Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis for children under age 7 (DTaP)
Tetanus with Pertussis or Whooping Cough 11 or older (Tdap)
Tetanus (Td)
Hepatitis A
Polio (IPV)
Hepatitis B
Haemophilus B (HIB)
Meningitis vaccine
Pneumococcal (Prevnar)
Chicken Pox (Varicella)
Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR)
Human Papillomavirus for females 11 – 26 (HPV)
We also have adult vaccines available for
Hepatitis A. and Hepatitis B. Contact the Norwood City Health
Department for types and cost of vaccines at (513) 458-4600.
The Norwood City Health Department also provides Influenza and
Pneumonia vaccine each fall. For information regarding cost and
clinic or appointment times, please call the health department. This
information will be updated as the flu season approaches.
Vaccine Clinics
The NCHD has vaccine clinics scheduled for the second and fourth
Monday of each month between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Children
and/or adults may attend these sessions without making prior
arrangements. If you would like to schedule an appointment during
that time, contact the health department and we will reserve a time
for you. Please bring a copy of the vaccine record for all who will
be receiving vaccines to the appointment to ensure that no vaccines
will be missed. If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled
clinics, please contact the NCHD nursing staff for a separate
appointment (458-4600).
Tuberculosis Testing
The NCHD
provides tuberculosis skin tests (PPD/Mantoux) for a $5.00
administration fee for each test. An appointment is required and the
client must return in the recommended 48-72 hours for the results in
order for the test to be valid. Appointments may be scheduled on
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday. We do not do testing on
Thursday or Friday if the following Monday is a holiday.
Recommended Immunization Schedules
The following links to CDC provide information on the recommended ages
for routine childhood and adult vaccinations. Check back often for
updated schedules and changes to vaccination requirements. A catch up
schedule is also available for missed or late doses.

Fee Schedule
An administration fee for vaccination of a child is $7.00 for the
first vaccine and $2 per additional vaccine. No child will be refused
vaccination for the inability to pay. Some vaccines that are
supplied by the ODH are restricted to use on children who are eligible
for the Vaccines for Children Program only. These children
include those who are Medicaid Eligible, Uninsured, Native American or
Alaskan native.
A charge for adult vaccines is as follows:
Cost of the vaccine + $5.00 administration fee.
Record Keeping
It is important to keep immunization records up-to-date, for both
children and adults. It is important to keep up-to-date copies of
immunization records at home in a safe place because proof of
immunization is required when children start daycare or kindergarten.
It will also be easily accessible for emergencies. Ask your
pediatrician or doctor for a copy of your family's immunization
records, and take it with you each time a family member is immunized.
The NCHD also utilizes the Ohio Immunization Registry (Impact SIIS) to
maintain records for our clients. It is a confidential, computerized
information system that provides a single source of immunization
records for you child.
