Each year, Norwood City Health Department honors
restaurants that are making efforts to offer customers healthier
choices. A survey is mailed to each restaurant in Norwood along with
their annual license application. The survey asks about items on the
menu and if lower fat options are identified, side items, low fat milk
and cheese products and egg substitutes. If restaurants meet 80% of
the criteria, they are honored as “Gold Plate Award”
recipients. The GOLD in “GOLD
Plate”
stands for “Great Options in Lower-Fat Dining.
