Health Commisioner

Donna Laake has been Health Commissioner at the Norwood City Health Department since August, 1994. A registered nurse for over 35 years, Mrs. Laake believes that all Norwood residents should have the same access to care and the ability to maintain a healthy lifestyle. She has obtained grants to provide taste testing of fruits and vegetables in the Norwood City Schools, painted red footprints in 1-mile paths around each school building, provided “LifeSkills” tobacco prevention programs for all 3^rd and 6^th grade students, instituted the school-linked dental program for students in grades K through 8, and provided health screenings at fairs, schools, the Norwood Community/Senior Center and at the health department facility.

She has received such awards as the Norwood Kiwanis “Woman of the Year,” YMCA of the USA “Distinguished Leadership Award” and was recently honored by the Norwood Knights of Columbus as the “Citizen of the Year.”
