About Us

The Norwood Health Department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The office is closed on holidays including New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The Norwood Health Department is divided into divisions to better serve the citizens of Norwood:

Administration:  The Board of Health hires the Health Commissioner who oversees the day-to-day operations of the department.  The health commissioner hires other staff members and serves as Secretary to the Board of Health.

Vital Statistics: The Norwood Health Department maintains birth and death certificates from 1908 to the present.  Only those residents who were born at home or died in within the city limits will have vital records stored at the Norwood Health Department.  Call (513) 458-4600 to see if we have your vital record stored at our facility.

Nursing Division: Public health nurses perform such duties as home visits for elderly, families and children, immunizations, communicable disease investigation, chronic disease investigation and follow up, Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps services, car seat assistance, school nursing services for private and parochial schools and other services as needed.  See the Nursing Division button on the left for a complete list of all services available to Norwood residents.

Environmental Division:  Our sanitarian inspects all restaurants, grocery stores, infectious waste, public swimming pools and vending machines within the city.  The Norwood Health Department also collects mosquitoes and birds for West Nile Virus testing.  See the Environmental Division button on the left for a complete list of all services available.

Nuisance Division:  Each year the Norwood Health Department receives and investigates over 1,600 complaints, ranging from high grass and overcrowding to insufficient heat and garbage and rodents.  Contact the Norwood Health Department at (513) 458-4600 if you have a problem in your neighborhood that we can assist you in resolving.  See the Nuisance Division button on the left to view the services we offer or to register a complaint.
