Norwood Health Department

The Norwood Health Department was founded in 1890 and was originally located in the basement of the City Municipal Building. Because of the growing population and the need for expanded services and space, the City of Norwood constructed the building located at 2059 Sherman Avenue. Many residents remember receiving oral polio sugar cubes and vaccinations at the health department. We are mindful of the sacrifices that those before us made in bringing public health to the city.

All people who live or work in Norwood are protected from disease and other public health threats and are able to utilize health information, services and resources to achieve optimal health.

Hours and Contact Informatin

The Norwood Health Department is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is closed on holidays including New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Veterans’ Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Norwood Health Department has one general nubmer for contacting the various divisions of the department. That number is (513) 458-4600. We answer our phones every day; you will not receive a recording unless we are closed.

Blood Pressure Screenings

The Health Department provides two free blood pressure clinics every month. The first clinic takes place at the Health Department on the first Friday of every month from 1 to 3 p.m.
No appointment is necessary.

The second clinic takes place at the Norwood Senior Center on the second Wednesday of every month from 10:30 to 11:30a.m. No membership or appointment is required. We also will provide blood pressure screenings by appointment.
